Older models like Kindle Keyboard 3 rd generation, Kindle Touch 4 th generation, Kindle Paperwhite 5 th, 6 th and 7 th generation, Kindle Voyage 7 th generation and Kindle Oasis 8 th generation will lose their cellular connections but will still be capable of downloading books through Wi-Fi connection. These models are the Kindle, 1 st and 2 nd generation, and the Kindle DX, 2 nd generation. While the oldest models will lose connection entirely, with new items no longer able to be downloaded, access to previously downloaded information will still be available.
While this does mean progress with newer devices, it also means that Amazon has begun spreading the news that older models of their Kindle will be losing connection by the end of 2021.
– Cell carriers have recently decided ‘out with the old, and in with the new’ for older 2G and 3G networks, and are beginning to opt for newer, faster networks such as 4G and 5G.
